I am starting on the next jap drama “1 Litre of Tears” (1リットルの涙, Ichi Rittoru no Namida).
This drama is based on the real-life struggles of a 15-year-old girl named Aya Kitou (木藤亜也, Kitō Aya, July 19, 1962–May 23, 1988) who suffered from an incurable disease called Spinocerebellar Degeneration, but lived life to the fullest until her death at 25.
The script is based on the diary Aya continuously wrote until she could no longer hold a pen. The purpose of writing a diary was to remind herself not to give up. By carefully depicting Aya's courage and positive attitude towards an uncertain future and earnest desire to live, with the love of her family, friends, and lover, the drama, "1 Litre of Tears" wishes to deliver her simple but strong message: "Just being alive is such a lovely and wonderful thing."
Her diary 1 Litre of Tears was published shortly after her death and it has encouraged many people, healthy or diseased, because of its inspiring and courageous messages. So far, over 18,000,000 copies of her diary have been sold.
